Our airway management course covers not only routine endotracheal intubation (or airway intubation) via rapid sequence intubation, but also reviews difficult airway management. Techniques of advanced airway management and airway rescue are discussed. Our airway management training is a component of our live Hospitalist and Emergency Procedures CME course which teaches clinicians how to perform the 20 most essential procedures needed to work in the ER, ICU, and hospital wards.
The Airway Lab is part of the Hospital Procedures course and Emergency Procedures course that will split the students four groups that rotate between two conference rooms. The students in Room 1 will learn about ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement, landmark-guided and ultrasound-guided central line placement, arterial line placement, and point-of-care ultrasound including the E-FAST exam, RUSH exam, limited echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and chest ultrasound. The students in Room 2 will learn about tube thoracostomy, pigtail catheter placement for pneumothorax evacuation, needle decompression, ultrasound-guided thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, ultrasound-guided paracentesis, basic airway management, endotracheal intubation, intermediate airway placement (LMA and King tube placement), stylet-guided intubations, video laryngoscopy (Glidescope intubations), and basic suturing. The students will switch rooms throughout the day so that they learn ALL the other procedural skills by the end of the course.
